By His Hand

create-book-2When I tell the stories of the things God has done in my life, people say, “You need to write a book!”  This was the second book I wrote, and it is all about how the hand of God has moved all throughout parts of my life to bring me to where I am today.  I don’t think He is done yet, but I wanted to write this before I lose some of the pieces.

Did you know that our lives are like jigsaw puzzles?  We are given many pieces, and they all fit somewhere, but only God knows what the completed picture looks like.  If we are in tune with God (meaning that we are spiritually growing, maturing, and paying attention) we will eventually find where each of those pieces fit.

I  love to tell the story of one of my favorite Family Circus cartoons where a mom told her small boy to go next door and borrow a cup of sugar.  The next few frames traced the steps of the boy from the back door of his house to the dog house, from the dog house to the tree, up and down the tree, around the garage to the swing set, along the fence with a stick, chasing the dog, being chased by the dog around the yard, and finally through the gate to the neighbors’ house.  Quite the route!!

I thought to myself, That’s exactly what life is like most of the time.  God does have a plan and a purpose for our lives, and like the boy in the cartoon, we go here, there, and everywhere and sometimes never find the sugar!  In fact, that’s exactly what my life was like for a long time—until I began to look back, put the pieces together, and see how God indeed has determined my steps.

This is not a book about how God works in everyone’s life but about how He worked in, around, and through the circumstances and events in my life.  I am sure that many who read this could tell similar stories.  If you have any questions or thoughts to share, please leave a comment below.  Thanks for reading.

  1. Do you ever wonder if God is working in your life or if it’s just all up to you? The stories in this book are great examples of how God worked in one man’s life and has changed the lives of so many through him, only God knows. Yes, God works in our lives… he’s the one who puts the puzzle pieces together – even when we’re not sure how it’s all going to fit! (It’s something I have to remind myself often!) This is a great read!!
